Balance Point Wellness is now offering Equine Facilitated Therapy!

What is Equine Facilitated Therapy?

Equine Facilitated Therapy (EFT) encompasses a range of treatments that involve activities with horses to promote physical and mental health. EFT does not necessarily involve riding the horse but may include grooming, feeding, and ground exercises. Your Therapist work with one or more clients and one or more horses in a manner to help the clients learn about themselves and others while processing or discussing the client’s feelings and behaviors.

Meet Jennifer Krause, LMSW, Equine Facilitated Therapist

Jennifer is a Licensed Master Social Worker who obtained her graduate degree from Salisbury University and an undergraduate degree from UMBC.  She specializes in helping children and adults through a hands-on experiential approach, utilizing horses.   This modality is ground-based (no horse experience is necessary) and uses metaphors to help clients create positive life changes.  Jennifer has been certified through the Equine Growth and Assisted Learning Association since 2014, and holds their Military Service Designation.  She often incorporates CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Solution Focused theories into sessions.  Jennifer believes Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy can be beneficial to almost anyone.  She has worked with individuals who have experienced challenges from ADHD, anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Alzheimer’s Disease, depression, Non-Verbal Learning Disorders, and trauma.
