Nkechi Jiabana, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Position: Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified From Walden University

Nkechi is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who graduated from Walden University. She is a seasoned professional with 22 years of experience in Nursing, ten years in psychiatric, ten years as a nurse case manager assisting clients in receiving appropriate care they needed in their various communities, training staff under her supervision, and with added experience as an Assessor Reviewer before going back to become a nurse practitioner.
As an experienced Nurse Practitioner who has worked with a diverse population, she renders professional quality services within the scope of practice to adults struggling with anxiety, depression, insomnia, bipolar, post-traumatic stress disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorders. Her approach to providing care entails openness, warmness, and empowering clients through various therapeutic ways that are suitable for that individual client. In addition, she provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management focusing on individual needs and traumatic life experiences, bearing in mind that every patient is unique and different from another patient. Nkechi has always had a passion for helping the less privileged and others in need and is poised to render quality care with unconditional positive regard towards the patients while maintaining safety in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures.

Andrea’s primary specialty is providing treatment for those clients struggling with substance abuse difficulties and ​co-occurring mental health issues. She uses a cognitive behavioral therapy approach tailored to her clients’ needs and strengths to help them develop skills and techniques to treat their substance abuse issues, learn to cope with daily stressors effectively, and employ life skills.

She is available to work with adults in either individual or couples sessions.

Shenna believes in the power of a positive therapeutic relationship and the clients’ ability to utilize their strengths in their treatment. She has experience as a school-based mental health therapist, working with children in Baltimore City who present with a variety of diagnoses.

She has also worked with adults in several outpatient mental health settings who have struggled with depression, anxiety, bipolar, substance abuse, and various other diagnoses. Her treatment approach incorporates many different treatment modalities, and she will utilize whatever feels right with each client. Shenna enjoys using humor in sessions to help clients develop the skills and resources necessary for positive change and personal growth.

Bethany Benson, LCPC

Position: Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor Clinical Coordinator- School Program Masters in Education for Community Mental Health from Univ. Of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Bethany Benson is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Board-Certified Supervisor for the State of Maryland. She has experience working with adults, children, and families in both the school and out-patient settings. Before joining Balance Point Wellness, she worked with children ranging from ages four to fifteen in a school setting and adults experiencing chronic homelessness in Baltimore City.

Bethany has experience working with individuals with various diagnoses, including but not limited to, Adjustment Issues, Grief, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder, Trauma, Anxiety, and Depressive Disorders. She uses an eclectic approach grounded in CBT, Play therapy, and Person-Centered, tailored to each individual’s specific needs. Bethany believes in the power of a positive therapeutic relationship to help each individual find healing and reach their fullest potential.

Jessica Hurst, LCPC

Jessica is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Board-Certified Supervisor for the State of Maryland. Jessica’s current areas of clinical focus are with adolescents (16 and older), adults, and couples, by helping them through life’s challenges. She specializes in treating individuals who come to counseling for Anxiety and Depressive Disorders, Bi-Polar Disorders, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues, and other emotional and trauma-related disorders.

She utilizes an integrative and client-centered approach and draws from Cognitive-Behavioral, Rational-Emotive, Motivational Enhancement, Dialectical-Behavioral, and Trauma-Informed therapies, as well as mindfulness-based modalities. She assists people who are having a tough time dealing with life stressors to find new ways for healing, optimum functioning, and to help them “thrive vs. survive.”

Daniel Stewart, LMSW

Position: Licensed Master Social Work. Masters in Social Work from University of Maryland School of Social Work.

Daniel received his social work license with a concentration in behavioral health from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. Daniel has experience working with adolescents and adults of all ages seeking support for challenges such as ADHD, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and relationship problems. In addition to his clinical experience, Daniel provided workshops on various topics, including happiness, productivity, relationship skills, and trauma.

His primary approach is CBT and other techniques, such as motivational interviewing, psychodynamic, systems, and existential modalities. Daniel allows the nature of his clients’ personalities and challenges to dictate which particular modality best suits them. He believes that optimal results from therapy originate from the very nature of the client-therapist relationship itself.

Leah Brody, LCSW-C

Leah is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and a Board Approved Supervisor. She graduated from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and has been working in the mental health field for nearly 20 years. Leah predominantly works with children, adolescents, and young adults on a wide range of issues.

She has worked in numerous settings, including schools and private practice, but has spent the majority of her career working in child welfare with children, families, and numerous professionals across various disciplines. Leah is passionate about social work and mental health and is a strong advocate for her clients. She uses primarily cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and solution-focused therapy in her work.

Kyle Jernigan, LCSW-C

Kyle is a Licensed Certified Social Worker who graduated from the University of Maryland – School of Social Work. Kyle believes that therapy can help anyone grow into the most complete and healthy version of themselves and wants to help you benefit as well. In a warm, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed therapeutic environment Kyle will assist you in pursuing personal goals and gaining insight into who you are, why you do what you do, and how you can align your psychology with your higher motivations.

Since 2015 Kyle has provided outpatient psychotherapy in a variety of settings to adolescents, adults, couples, and families utilizing concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and emerging research in mindfulness. Kyle works with clients managing a variety of symptoms relating to such challenges as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and adjusting to life’s ups and downs. Kyle strives to create an environment that validates and celebrates the strengths of all individuals, with particular attention to the unique traits and challenges of LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent people.
